Marlon & Emily’s Courthouse Wedding in Raleigh, NC | Nash Square Portraits

Some wedding days are quiet, intentional, and deeply meaningful and Marlon and Emily’s courthouse wedding in Raleigh was exactly that.

They chose to celebrate their marriage with a simple courthouse ceremony surrounded by their closest family, making the day feel intimate while still incredibly special.

A Meaningful Ceremony at the Wake County Courthouse

Courthouse weddings have a beauty to them that’s different from large celebrations. Everything slows down, and the focus becomes the moment itself- the vows, the excitement, and the meaning behind saying “I do.”

Marlon and Emily’s ceremony at the Wake County Courthouse in Raleigh was small and heartfelt. With both of their parents there to witness the moment, the ceremony felt deeply personal and full of emotion.

There’s something really special about having the people who have supported you throughout your life standing there as you begin this new chapter together.

After the ceremony, we stepped outside into downtown Raleigh to celebrate with portraits.

Portraits at Nash Square Park

Just a few minutes from the courthouse sits Nash Square Park, one of our favorite hidden gems in downtown Raleigh.

The park offers beautiful greenery, shaded walkways, and classic downtown Raleigh views that create the perfect backdrop for portraits.

Marlon and Emily walked through the park together, still glowing from the excitement of their ceremony. These moments right after a wedding are always some of our favorites- the nerves have faded, the vows are fresh, and couples are fully present in the moment.

The quiet paths, tall trees, and soft light made Nash Square the perfect place to capture the beginning of their marriage.

Why Courthouse Weddings Are So Meaningful

Courthouse weddings often remind us what weddings are truly about.

They strip away the pressure and focus on the heart of the day — two people choosing each other, often surrounded by the people who matter most.

Whether couples celebrate with a courthouse ceremony before a larger wedding later or choose to keep the day small and intimate, these weddings always carry a special kind of emotion.

Marlon and Emily’s day was a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most meaningful celebrations are the simplest ones.

If you're planning a courthouse wedding in Raleigh, we'd love to help you capture it.
